Cisco Live – Interesting Sessions

This will be my second year attending Cisco Live. 2017 was a great conference with outstanding sessions.  This year the sessions look even better and I have my schedule jam packed with them.

Here are a few that I am looking forward to…

Branch Router Security (BRKSEC-2342)

This session will demonstrate how to leverage Zone Based Firewall on ISR Routers. Something that has been common on the ASA platform. The session also covers the use of Firepower Threat Defense (FTD) and Encrypted Traffic Analysis (ETA) to monitor and catch malicious channels within an encrypted stream.

Business to Business Interoperable federations with Skype for Business and Office 365 (BRKCOL-2006)

More and more companies are migrating to Office 365 and integrating email with their on-premises phone system. This allows users to leverage Cisco UC products like Jabber or Webex and call individuals who leverage Skype for Business. This sessions covers the importance of Expressway and Cisco Meeting Server (CMS) for this integration. I am really curious about integration with Teams and what the roadmap for that is.

Cisco Calling Solutions and Jabber Roadmap (CCP-1100)

Unfortunately, I wont be able to talk much about this sessions after the conference as it is an NDA session exclusive to Customer Connection Program (CCP) members. This sessions will highlight some of the new and expected features of UC, focusing on Phones, Call Manager, Jabber and potential integrations/adaptation of Broadsoft solutions (recent acquisition).

Network Operations Center Tours (GENNOC-1000,1001,1002,1003,1004)

Last year, there was huge display of all the hardware needed to run the Cisco Live, Everything from the new CAT9k to Nexus 7k to dual 8540 WLC. This year they are giving attendees tours of the NOC,  explaining what went into creating a secure and scalable network, and answering any questions we may have!!

What’s New in On-Premises Collaboration (PSOCOL-1001)

This session will be going over features and changes with version 12, 12.1 and a potentially preview of 12.5. They aim to cover security enhancements IPV6 additions as-well as improvements in  compatibly and support with hybrid connections to Cisco’s Cloud.

All the sessions look outstanding! These are just a few that caught my eye.

Stay tuned for more posts about Cisco Live!
